MusicVault features

MusicVault is a diverse program, aiming to be the only program needed to manage and use your growing MP3 collection, whether it is located on your harddrive or burnt down on CD's. The features of the program is therefore a mix between a standard "Tag & Rename"-program and a database of music with extensive search capabilities.

A database of songs in MusicVault is called a "Vault".

Vault functions

• Add an unlimited number of CD's to a single vault
• "Rename" the CD's titles (which is often something like 980918_2200) to a more sensible name like "Beatles"
• Create a vault of the harddrive(s) or a single directory
• Create own "categorys" inside a vault containing a sub-set of the entire vault, for example "Favourites", "70's", "Party", "Slow". Any song can be a member of an indefinate number of categories
• View the songs in the vault by Category, Artist, Album, Genre or Search Criteria.
• Sort every fileview on Filename, Artist, Title, Album, Comment, CD, Genre, Path, Track, Bitrate, Filesize, Frequency, Length, Year, Created or Changed
• Copy the selected titles from your CD-vault to your harddrive.
• Edit filename and ID3-Tag on files already burned on CD's. As soon as you copy the selected songs to your harddrive theese changes will apply.
• Play songs from the harddrive, or a harddrive vaut directly in WinAmp
• Search can be done by Filename, Artist, Title, Album, Comment, Genre, Track and Year.
• Statistics of the songs in the vault, showing Number of files, Number of artists, Number of albums, Number of genres, Number of CD's, Total filesize, Average filesize, Total playing time and Average playing time.
• Unlimited number of Vaults can be created and easily switched between.
• Functions for finding duplicates or new files on the harddrive compared to the Vault.
• Functions to search for songs on the harddrives (filenames or tag information)
• Drag and drop support to/from other applications
• Double-click one or more song to edit song data, play or queue the songs for playing
• Export your entire vault or selection as a WinAmp playlist.

Tag & Rename functions

• Select as many songs as you like and edit the tag information on all the songs at the same time
• Tag and rename songs on your harddrive or in your vault
• ID3-Filename conversion made easy
• Filename-ID3 conversion
• A powerful renaming tool that shows the result before it is actually performed.
• Search and replace in tags or filenames
• Fast copy & paste in the fileview (ctrl+c and ctrl+v)
• Edit the complete ID3 tag at once, or just a single field with two different modes of selection.
• Four modes of Capitalisation on both filenames and tag information
• Very fast editing even on large number of files
• Excel-style "smart fill-in" of tag information

Other features of the program

• No nagging messages that urge you to register. No time limit. No copy protection.
• Multi-language support via language textfiles.
• No external third-party components used. This means I have complete control of the code so no bugs can originate from third-party code.
• No extra files needed, no DLL:s or extras in the windows directory.
• Easy uninstallation.
• Completely written in C++, making the program very fast and memory efficient.
• Internal propretary database management, optimized for the purpose. No extra database functionality needs to be installed for the program to work.

Registered version features

• More export options. Export your entire vault or selection as spreadsheets, HTML or textfiles.
• ID3v2 support.
• Printing of your vault/selected files in many different ways.
