Of course you can search trough your harddrive for songs. You can search on filenames and/or in the tag information of the files. A search on the harddrive might take some time, if you search a complete drive. Once the search is done, the files are presented in the harddrive search results. The search result is persistent until you make another search (or use any of the "scan for..." functions).
You can select to search entire drives, or just the selected folder.
